Muslim Saleem, others recite literary works at MP Urdu Akademi
Bhopal, March 31, 2013 (Ataullah Faizan): Madhya Pradesh Urdu Akademi organised a literary sitting here today. At the sitting, Muslim Saleem, Dr. Qasim Niazi, Mahboob Ahmad Mahboob, Bhopal, Mr Betakalluf Shajapuri, Shajapur, Naseer Ansari, Indore and Mr Shareef Ansari Shareef recited their poems while Rasheed Anjum and Sultana Hijab read out their short stories. Urdu Akademi Chairman Mohammad Saleem presided over the sitting. Urdu Akademi Secretary Mrs Nusrat Mehdi was also be present.
Urdu lover Sheetal Soni presents memento to Muslim Saleem
The function was marked by an unusual and emotional even. Moved by Muslim Saleem’s ashar, Urdu lover Sheetal Soni presented gold-plated memento made by him to Muslim Saleem in appreciation of his ghazals recited at MP Urdu Academy Bhopal on March 31, 2013. Sheetal Soni is a great Urdu lover. Goldsmith by profession, he presents a memento to one outstanding performer at each function of Urdu Akademi. This time, he chose Muslim Saleem to present this memento in which he has carved two Quranic ayahs. He was so overwhelmed that he rushed to Muslim Saleem to present the memento while he was reciting the poem. Later, he also posed for photograph with Muslim Saleem.
Khalid Ahmad passes away

LAHORE – Nawa-i-Waqt columnist Khalid Ahmad died at 70. Khalid was battling against lungs cancers. He is survived by widow, two sons and a daughter. Khalid had been writing column ‘Lamha Lamha’ for Nawa-i-Waqt.
Besides being a known poet, he was an acknowledged playwright and author of a number of books, including ‘Tashbeeb’, ‘Hathaliun Par Charagh’, Pehli Sada Parinday Ki’, Ek Muthi Hawa’ and ‘Num Grifta’ . ‘Kajol Ghar’ was one of his famous plays.
His colleagues expressed a deep sense of grief over the sad demise of the legend. They prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
