Prof. Mughni Tabassum dead, Barqi Azmi pays tributes
Bhopal, February 16, 2012 (Muslim Saleem): Urdu literary world was shocked once again when Prof. Mughni Tabassum passed away on February 15, 2012, at Hyderabad. Prof Mughni Tabassum was a highly renowned Urdu scholar, critic, poet, author and editor, who served for a long time as Head of Idara-e-Adabiyaat-e-Urdu, Hyderabad and as Head, Department of Urdu in the Osmania University. He had written hundreds of books in Urdu and was a recipient of several prestigious awards such as Ghalib Award, Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award, etc. He was the editor of the monthly Urdu magazine ‘Sabras‘ . He also jointly edits the prestigious Urdu journal ‘Sher-O-Hikmat‘, along with the renowned Urdu poet Shahryaar. Sher-O-Hikmat is a journal highly rated by writers, since it promises to become a work of reference for the study of Urdu literature for all times. Noted poet Ahmad Ali Barqi Azmi has paid poetic tributes to Prof Mughni Tabassum, which is being presented here.
